Occupations with the largest gender gap in Australia

Medical specialist - pathologist had the largest gender gap in median taxable income among occupations with at least 1,000 individuals: 77.40% (ATO 2023–24, Table 15A).

This ranking lists 50 occupations by gender gap in median taxable income, from largest gap to smallest.

Methodology

  • Occupations with fewer than 1,000 individuals are omitted.
  • The gender gap is the male median taxable income less the female median, as a share of the male median. A negative figure means the female median is the higher one.
  • Figures are from ATO Taxation Statistics 2023–24.
